Performed at the 4-time Grammy winning show on June 23, 2010 during George's Annual Workshop at which the performers were all teaching.

Sorry I ran out of disk space so it cuts off at Led's second solo. I wasn't going to upload it, but the fun & interplay among the artists was too good. This recording was made at the special show including many of the teachers at George's Annual Maui Workshop: Jeff Peterson, Herb Ohta Jr, Kevin Brown, George Kahumoku, Ledward Kaapana, Garrett Probst, Peter deAquino. Sterling Seaton was busy running the sound board and didn't make it to the stage in time for his solo which Peter took standing up behind everyone.

 

Peter deAquino and Garrett Probst play "Wipe Out" at George Kahumoku Jr's Slack Key Show - Masters of Hawaiian Music. Peter & Garrett are first cousins and have been performing on Maui for many years, starting as children with Keoki Kahumoku's ukulele youth group. They now co-host the Slack Key Show and perform professionally at Duke's and the Hula Grill.

Singing a medley of hymns, these 2 reverends and a deacon sing a soulful medley of "E Kolu Meanui", "Kanaka Wai Wai", and "Pilipapa". Queen of Hawaiian slack-key guitar Owana Salazar performs the classic "Hi‘ilawe" with "Waterfall' as a centerpiece. It is a tropical masterpiece of sound with her singing, slack key, and steel guitar playing. From Owana's Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning album, Wahine Slack n' Steel. Now co-hosting the regular weekly show, Peter & Garrett have been performing with the Kahumoku family for more than 10 years. This song was written by George and his hanai daughter, Sarah Hall, and is part of the Kahumoku Family tradition.

Richard Ho'opi'i, Legendary Hawaiian Falsetto Master- 50s Medley  Usually singing traditional Hawaiian, in this clip Richard is rocking the house in this medley of his favorite top 40 hits from the '50s. His charisma and exuberance are evident in all that he sings and his vocal range is something to behold. This is filmed at George Kahumoku Jr's Slack Key Show - Masters of Hawaiian Music in June 2010 when Richard was the featured artist. You can hear George supporting him with bass and Peter deAquino with lead ukulele.

 

Herb Ohta Jr -"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" Filmed at George Kahumoku Jr's Slack Key Show-Masters of Hawaiian Music on July 7, 2010. Herb's exquisite style and technique and his amazing talent for the ukulele is demonstrated in this well known song.

 

Da Ukulele Boyz - "Body Surfing"  Garrett Probst & Peter deAquino are having fun performing for and with their mentor and teacher, Herb Ohta Jr. Herb's father, Ohtasan composed the song. This is the special multi-artist show during George Kahumoku's 2010 Workshop when all of the instructors were featured. George is also on stage playing back up for Da Boyz. Herb takes a solo, and also takes a bow as the teacher for this amazing pair of performers.
